Electric company cars for
environmentally-friendly trips to work

28/06/2021 — Sustainability

According to ‘Test aankoop’ (A Belgian non-profit organisation which protects and defends consumers’ needs and rights), six out of ten cars sold in Europe are company cars, of which more than 95% have a petrol or diesel engine. Traditional company cars are one of the main causes of air pollution, due to their high CO2 emission. That’s why we as a company would like to go for more eco-friendly alternatives: hybrid and electric company cars.

Taking into account the CO2 generated during the manufacturing of such cars and the electricity generated during charging, the emissions of an electric car are still 3 to 4 times lower than those of a traditional car. This is according to a study by The European Federation for Transport and Environment. The study focused on a commuting distance of 10 to 20 kilometres.

Evolution towards greenhouse gas-free

The Belgian government states in its coalition agreement that all company cars must be 'greenhouse gas-free' by 2026. But we didn't wait for that, because a greener world for us and our pets is not something you put on the back burner. This year our fleet of company cars will include an increasing number of hybrid and electric cars. Our parking lot is already equipped with 10 charging points for electric cars.

E-bikes

By the way, did you know that all our employees can lease an electric bicycle from us at low cost? Employees who like to do their bit for a greener environment, can leave their car at home and use the electric bicycle. And it’s healthy, too!
